Today, We Remember Holocaust Remembrance Day
To others, it’s a tragedy not to be wasted.
January 27th is Holocaust Remembrance Day. 🕯
The date commemorates the victims of the Holocaust, which resulted in the abhorrent genocide of one-third of the Jewish people.
I have been a fierce friend and defender of the Jewish people. I am unequivocal in my resolve to protect innocent life and speak up against what the Lord detests. As families grieve the calamity of the holocaust (and the October 7th massacre), we stand with them in solidarity, in love, and in prayer.
I detest when individuals and groups politicize tragedy. Voices of Placer, a Placer County-based hate group, has chosen to take a day of remembrance and smear it with their twisted political agenda.
In what looked like a Holocaust Remembrance Day post, Voices of Placer founder, Alicia Watkins, claimed that every tactic used by Hitler and the Nazi Regime to attack and slaughter millions of innocent people is now being used by individuals like myself.
Watkins accused myself, my organization, and my followers of being anti-Semitic, Jewish hate deniers, and leveraging bigotry to fundraise. Every single statement is false, without merit, and a disgrace to Jewish people everywhere. This isn’t the first time. In October, Voices of Placer compared our non-profit fundraiser to a Nazi Gala event, requiring us to hire security and a police presence for safety.
Obama famously said never to let a tragedy go to waste, and Alicia has taken the tragedy of the Holocaust and used it to sell rage, slander, and hate in the community.
I don’t post this to play the victim or to gift her any notoriety. I post this as a reminder of why we are doing what we are doing. We’re contending for the family, for the church, for country, for virtue. We’re locking arm-in-arm to combat hate, injustice, and malevolence. We do this with truth, with love, and with wisdom.
So, today, I choose to remember, to pray, and to stand arm-in-arm with my Jewish friends.
